Let us help you choose the perfect Brompton and get it to you safely
Your Brompton bike can come in many combinations. Some like colour are easy to choose, but other options such as the handlebar type and seatpost type are more difficult to get right. This video outlines which bike will fit you best and how seatpost and handlebar choice can affect your posture and comfort while riding.
Although all Brompton frames are the same size, there are different components that tailor the fit for each rider: seatpost and handlebar type.
Brompton offers three seatpost length options:
Standard: Suitable for those with an inside leg measurement of 33 inches / 84 cm maximum.
Extended: 2.5 inches / 60mm longer than the standard. This seatpost option does leave the saddle higher when the bike is folded and therefore the below option may suit you if you wish to keep the bike as small as possible when folded.
Telescopic: Designed for those with an inside leg greater from 35 inches / 89cm to 39 inches / 99cm approx. or for taller riders wishing to minimise how far the seat pillar protrudes from the folded package. It also allows you to remove the saddle more easily, which is perfect for particularly small spaces like the boot of your car.
Our three handlebar types offer different riding positions for varying heights of rider and styles of riding.
Low: Shorter riders will find this a good all-round position and taller riders will be in a lower, sporty ride position, which may be preferable if the rider is used to a road bike. (925mm from ground to handlebar)
Mid: Our classic handlebar shape, which for most riders provides an all-round, neutral position. Shorter riders will find this offers a more upright, leisurely position and taller riders will find this still gives a slightly sporty position. (1015mm from ground to handlebar)
High: Our classic handlebar shape, at an elevated height (6 cm higher in the bike stem). Taller riders will find this offers a more neutral position and anyone shorter will feel close to upright, similar in style to a traditional Dutch bike. (1075mm from ground to handlebar)

We recommend that the weight of the rider, combined with any luggage should not exceed more than 110kgs (242 lbs, or 17 stone).
The load on the front luggage carrier block and/or the rear rack should not be more than 10kg (22lbs or 1 stone) each.
Warranty on the bicycle frame and other components are invalid on loads that exceed those stated above.
The suspension is important on a small-wheeled bike. A Brompton suspension is provided by a polyurethane block between the main and rear frames; lightweight and effective. Whilst it helps to absorb bumps in the road, the natural damping of the material also helps with pedal efficiency.
Historically, Brompton has provided a choice of two different suspension blocks, a firm block, and a standard block. However, the design has been refined using new materials and a new compression profile which makes it more suitable for a much wider range of riders. As a result, we now only use one type of suspension block type with our bikes. The hardness of the new block is between the two old types of suspension.
For the full specs of your Brompton, please refer to the spec sheets under each Line. These specs are subject to change at short notification because of supply chain challenges.
The dimensions of a 16 inch wheel Brompton when folded are 585mm high x 565mm long x 270mm wide (23" x 22.2" x 10.6").
The G line has a folded size of 28.3" / 72cm (D), 26.2" / 67cm (H), 16" / 41cm (W).
Measurements are based on a bike with folding pedal and a standard seatpost and saddle; however, measurements will vary slightly by model. For instance, a model without mudguards will reduce the height of the folded package and the extended seatpost will increase the height by 60mm.
The volumetric size of the folded package is approximately 3.1ft3 (0.089m3) for a 16 inch bike.
The T Line One is our lightest Brompton. Precision-engineered titanium frame. Ultralight at 7.45 kg. Designed ground-up to be as light as possible and for optimal city performance.
We offer three different seat post options, for riders ranging from 140cm to 203cm (4'7"" to 6'8"").
Height compatibility for the bike is determined by the rider's inside-leg measurement.
We also offer the saddle height insert, which can be used to help riders who need a shorter seatpost length than standard.
Additionally, the saddle can be moved forward or back over a range of approximately 10cm (4inches).
Taller riders may also want to consider the High handlebar, which at 1072mm offers the highest grip height.

We put 16" wheels on our bikes primarily for the obvious reason - they allow for a compact folded bike.
However, smaller wheels bring other advantages: they offer superior acceleration and lose less speed to wind resistance. Bromptons high-pressure tyres, offer similar rolling resistance to that of large wheels; the unpaced (i.e. unassisted) cycling world speed record was set using a small-wheeled Moulton AM7 (51.29 mph over 200m in 1986).
Smaller wheels are also lighter and stronger than larger, longer-spoked wheels, but many people worry about their capacity to handle potholes and other unforgiving terrains. Despite appearances, our wheels fare well on pitted streets, their greater maneuverability makes it easier to avoid the obstacles.
Our bikes really can do amazing things!

Brompton Electric C Line and Electric P Line is a product that will require occasional servicing, just like other bicycles. This will need to be carried out by trained staff with specialist tools at a Brompton Electric retailer.
For this reason, the warranty is only valid in the country of purchase, where there are trained and equipped retailers.
Further information regarding Electric C Line and Electric P Line can be found on the dedicated Brompton Electric page.
Brompton distributes to many partners across 45 countries; however, we are unable to ship to a country where we do not have accredited retailers or distributors. This is because all bicycles will require occasional servicing which will need to be carried out by an accredited retailer.
All Brompton retailers can be found here.
As stated in the Brompton warranty terms and conditions:
- The warranty is only valid within the country in which the bicycle was purchased.
- Bikes exported from one country to another will be supported, within the warranty period, by the free issue of parts from the factory, where necessary. However, the Brompton distributor or dealer in the new country will normally charge for the labour required to undertake warranty repairs, and for any import duty levied on the free-issued parts.
